Facilitation identifies solutions. Here are the key steps.
We will discuss your situation and start identifying the terms of intervention. These initial discussions are non-binding.
When you are ready we will agree on a contract which will take into consideration the terms of intervention, the complexity of the issue, the time required, the logistics, the deliverable, the report and advice regarding the follow-up.
We will define the terms of intervention in greater detail. This will include the context, the question, the focus, the people and the deliverable.
The process is prepared for the future meeting. This will be the key to identifying a solution created, understood and accepted by all. The facilitator presents the process to the client and the participant representatives. Adjustments are made and the process is validated.
The facilitator also manages the logistics. This includes the geographic location, the room, the furniture, writing supports and the public address system.
The big day has arrived. The client reminds the group why they are there. The facilitator then presents the agenda. The facilitator will be attentive to the participant's needs, manage time, stimulate energy, maintain an atmosphere, remind participants of the process and accompany changes in direction. The facilitator plays the role of guide.
The findings will be presented as a deliverable which will be tangible, useful and reusable. It can be a list of ideas, recommendations, decisions, suggestions or an action plan. The deliverable gives the participants a sense of purpose, progression and direction.
The report will contain information such as decisions, photos, propositions and the deliverable. It can come in different formats such as email, Excel, Powerpoint or video.
The facilitator requests feedback either in-person or via a questionnaire and discusses the outcome with the client and participant representatives.
It is the client who is responsible for managing what happens next. Ideally, the participants will be kept informed of or, even better, involved in the implementation of the solution. The facilitator can advise and provide assistance through new workshops.
David is one of the most talented professionals that I have ever met in my career. He adapts to the client's needs and the participants are always delighted with his work. Conscientious and professional, I know that everything will go well and be above and beyond my expectations.
Thanks a lot David!
